The Middleday Formula

The Middleday Formula was devised as an easy way to calculate the Middleday between any two birthdays.  Just follow these simple steps and you'll be on your way to discovering your own Middleday in no time at all:

  • Add your days to your days and your months to your months and divide each result by 2

This may be your Middleday already!  But if you've ended up with a fraction or two in your averages, read on for what to do:

If your month average has a fraction:

    • If your day average is more than 15, round your month average up and subtract 15  from your day average
    • If your day average is 15 or less, round your month average down and add  15 to your day average

If your day average has a fraction:

    • Round your day average up if you've rounded your month either way; round your day average down if you have not

Congratulations!!!  You've found your Middleday*Now that you've found what you share, share what you've found!  Let someone know the Middleday  you found today and find a whole new reason to celebrate tomorrow!

     Some Middleday Examples

Still confused?  Here's a few examples of some famous folks and the Middleday they  share.  Let's start with an easy one with no fractions, but lots of friction - one of America's  favorite non-couples who argue like they should be one, Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul:

    Example 1 - No Fractions - Paula & Simon

     Month

     Day

    Paula Abdul

     6

    19

    Simon Cowell

     10

     7

    Add 'em up

     16

     26

    Divide by 2

      8

     13

    Their Middleday

     8

     13

So Paula and Simon share August 13 as their Middleday

Getting the hang of it?  Let's try one now where you have a fraction in your month average and a day average that's greater than 15.  In 'Grease', they were 'electrifying', but what day can  Danny-John Travolta and  Sandy-Olivia Newton-John elect to call their own?

Example 3 - Month Fraction Only - John & Olivia

    Month

    Day

    John Travolta

     2

     18

    Olivia Newton-John

     9

     26

    Add 'em up

     11

     44

    Divide by 2

     5.5

    22

    Round Month Up

     (subtract 15 from day)

     6

     7

    Their Middleday

     6

     7

So John and Olivia share June 7 as their Middleday

Time to see what to do with fractions in both day and month averages, although there's nothing average about dynamic tennis superstars Venus and Serena Williams.  Let's see what day these amazing sisters can step off the court and share the 'love':

    Example 5 -Month & Day Fractions-Venus & Serena

    Month

     Day

    Venus Williams

     6

    17

    Serena Williams

    9

     26

    Add 'em up

    15

     43

    Divide by 2

    7.5

     21.5

    Round Month Up

    (subtract 15 from day)

     8

     6.5

    Round Day Up

    (month had fraction)

     8

     7

    Their Middleday

     8

     7

So Venus and Serena's Middleday is  August 7

    Find

     Your

    Middleday

Simple enough? Now let's see what happens when you have a fraction in your day average.  Although there was no friction between them, their 'malfunction' will always be one of live TV's most memorable moments.

Let's see what day Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake can  call their own personal 'halftime':

Example 2 - Day Fractions Only- Janet & Justin

    Month

    Day

    Janet Jackson

    5

     16

    Justin Timberlake

     1

     31

    Add 'em up

     6

     47

    Divide by 2

     3

     23.5

    Round Day Down

    (no month fraction)

     3

     23

    Their Middleday

     3

     23

So Janet and Justin share March 23 as their Middleday

Piece of cake, right?  Just to make sure, let's see what happens with a fraction in your month average and a day aveage that's 15 or less.  Remember, you don't have to be a couple to share a Middleday; you don't even have to get along all that well.  Let's see what day Captain Jack Sparrow and Will Turner (or at least their alter-egos Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom) can put aside their differences and get together to celebrate:

Example 4- Month Fraction Only - Johnny & Orlando
    Month  Day
    Johnny Depp 6  9
    Orlando Bloom 1 13
    Add 'em up 7 22
    Divide by 2 3.5 11

    Round Month Down

    (add 15 to day)

     3 26
    Their Middleday 3 26

So Johnny and Orlando share a March 26 Middleday
